Luxury Hotels in Dublin City
Eight elegant, luxury hotels in Dublin, all tried and tested over the years, some as a couple, most as a family. These four and five starred hotels each offered excellent accomodation and service, from rooms with private garden views, to famous public parks. From family rooms to exclusive suites. I’d stay again in a heartbeat.
But first let’s have a few words of wisdom from some world-famous experts in luxury – quotes that suit my thoughts on luxury hotels in Dublin.
- ‘I’m a man of simple tastes. I’m always satisfied with the best.’ ― Oscar Wilde
- ‘The quality remains long after the price is forgotten.’ – Sir Henry Royce
- ‘Luxury must be comfortable. Otherwise it is not luxury.’ – Coco Chanel
Stauntons on the Green, Dublin 2
Stauntons on the Green is a Georgian Gem.
Looking out over Stephen’s Green Park, with its own courtyard and garden along with a private entrance to the tranquil Iveagh Gardens, there’s nowhere else like it. And as we eased back into a ‘new normal’ for how we enjoy our hotel stay experiences. I can honestly say that there’s nowhere else I would have preferred to allow us to do so.

Number 31, Leeson Close, Dublin 2
Walking through the front door and passing Room 14 on the right, which is highlighted as once being the late Sam Stephenson’s room, you are greeted with a wonderful example of open plan modernist design, complete with sunken lounge and open fire place.
The modernist mews of Number 31 has kept its 1960’s charm structurally and as soon as I set foot into the lounge I imagined myself stepping back in time to a cocktail party, complete with bell-bottoms and my afro peeping through a multi-coloured headscarf.

Fitzwilliam Hotel Dublin, Dublin 2
The Fitzwilliam Hotel Dublin is a luxurious Five Star Hotel in the heart of Dublin City and last Sunday Patrick and I had the absolute pleasure of staying there on invite. It was for one night only but was an evening, night, morning and afternoon (in that order) to remember.

The Shelbourne Dublin, Dublin 2
I always feel when passing The Shelbourne that there is something magically glamorous but yet warmly inviting about the hotel. It could be the fact that it’s one of Dublin’s most luxurious Five Star Hotel’s. Maybe it’s because some of the most famous people in the world have stayed there. Or it might be because it is steeped in Irish history, having seen Dublin through the last 196 years. It will most likely see it through another century and more … oh if only its walls could talk!
