Little Green Cars – Absolute Zero (Delux Version), 2013
Little Green Cars are a fine example why you should really keep your ears out and open for up and coming bands that play in your local ‘Live Music Venue’. Looking back over their Facebook page it was quite sweet to see a fan of theirs congratulating them on 700 ‘Likes’ back in 2009 and see them play local towns in 2011. They’ve always played the best Live Music Venues in Dublin. When I last checked today they had 24,598 ‘Likes’, they supported Neil Young and Crazy Horse at the RDS back in June of this year and they are listed on Saturday’s Electric Picnic 2013 line-up ahead of the likes of Robert Plant and Ocean Colour Scene, I don’t know the times but they’re still listed ahead, for the moment. They have toured the UK and the US. They’ve been on the Ray Darcy Show, cool. They’ve also been on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, wow.
If you haven’t heard ‘My Love Took Me Down To The River To Silence Me‘ then you’ve been living on Mars! It’s addictive and once it gets into that brain of yours it ain’t leavin!
This week’s Listen is their album, Absolute Zero. I bought the ‘Delux Version’ for €12.99 on iTunes, pretty good value for 16 great songs/tracks. There’s something familiar but new about Little Green Cars. They are classed as indie rock. I’m not classist. To me they could have fit easily into the line-up of every great festival line-up from Woodstock on. I could go on about how they kinda remind me of so-and-so but who cares … I’m hooked really. It’s the kind of album to suit any mood and music choices are about feelings. I love their lyrics too. The band hail from Dubh Linn and are Stevie Appleby, Faye O’Rourke, Adam O’Regan, Donagh Seaver O’Leary and Dylan Lynch. For more info on the band and even lyrics you can visit their website here.
For those of you who have yet to witness Little Green Cars and for those who will, I have as always, included some videos and here they are … Track one, Harper Lee, track three, My Love Took Me Down To The River To Silence Me and finally track 8, The John Wayne. You’re welcome.
