Did you know that The World Health Organisation (WHO) designated May 12th as ‘International Nurses Day‘ in honour of the birth of Florence Nightingale. It’s a day to #celebratenurses. And this year, 2020, the 200th anniversary of the birth of Florence – has been chosen as the ‘Year of the Nurse and Midwife‘

Since 2013, CelebrateNurses.ie, supported by Nurse Jobs Ireland, has been campaigning to celebrate nurses here in Ireland. Along with running annual celebrations from pampering days to prizes for our nurses. CelebrateNurses.ie have also collected thank you’s for our everyday heroes. From notes to letters and well wishes. From the people of Ireland and beyond. Providing a dedicated place for each thank you on their website which are available to read 24/7.

 

Speaking on the campaign, founder Cora Barnes said:

This is a campaign of gratitude for nurses. We want the public to leave their Thank You messages. Do something special for a nurse in their lives and to get #CelebrateNurses trending on May 12th by thanking Nurses using #CelebrateNurse in their social media posts. A Thank You can get lost in a social media feed. But those that use #celebratenurses are collected, and put into our e-books of thanks that a nurse can review any time online on www.celebratenurses.ie”

Help #CelebrateNurses with a Thank You

This year The Life of Stuff has been asked to join in the #CelebrateNurses campaign, and help ‘Capture Ireland’s Thank Yous’. And we’re more than happy to be an ambassador. We have family and friends who are nurses. We champion small Irish companies such as Nurse Jobs Ireland. And or course CelebrateNurses.ie is a hugely positive initiative to celebrate the nursing profession. A profession that is greatly valued in our society.

We know nurses have always been our everyday heroes. But this fact has been driven home in these COVID-19 times. Our Nurses, are our frontline heroes. And so we want to help say THANK YOU!

Celebrate by Just Saying THANK YOU!

This International Nurses Day, May 12th CelebrateNurse.ie want people to thank nurses by whatever social means they use – email, twitter, facebook or instagram. Simply write a line, or a note, upload a clip or a photo and use the hashtag #CelebrateNurses. Or leave your words of thanks directly on celebratenurses.ie

Encourage Your Children to Celebrate by Drawing!

It’s easy to get your littles involved!

1. Encourage them to draw a picture of their favourite nurse, or a big ‘Thank You’ to all the nurses! Whatever inspires them on the day!
2. Take a photo of their artwork on your phone.
3. Send the photo directly to celebratenurses.ie.
4. And don’t forget to show them their masterpiece on the Celebrate Nurses Gallery Wall!
