Bevvy of the Week – Cloudy Bay Sauvignon Blanc

Sauvignon Blanc from Cloudy Bay

 Cloudy Bay Sauvignon Blanc

This week I’d like to recommend the Sauvignon Blanc from Cloudy Bay in New Zealand.

Cloudy Bay Sauvignon Blanc is one of the most famous wine, if not the most famous to come out of New Zealand. Going back around 10 years it was very hard to get a bottle, because the moment the wine was put on the shelf it was gone. Even Off Licences found it hard to reorder once their stock was gone. Today it’s a bit easier to find a bottle but you might have to try a few Off Licence’s first.

The winery of Cloudy Bay is situated in the world famous wine region of New Zealand, Marlborough. This region could not be more suited to the Sauvignon Blanc grape variety. Soil, climate and vine work so well together they produce the finest grapes.

There’s loads going on in this wine but everything seems so well balanced, each sip reveals more fruit character and the acidity is just right.

Cloudy Bay produce a number of other outstanding wines that I will cover in the near future but for now enjoy this Sauv Blanc.

You can pick up Cloudy Bay Sauvignon Blanc in most good Off Licence’s and it will set you back around €30.

Enjoy, Sláinte,

Patrick
