Bevvy of the Week – A French Red Wine: Minervois by Calvet

Minervois by Calvet

For this week’s Bevvy of the Week I’d like to recommend Minervois, a wine from Southern France. You’ll find Minervois produced in the Languedoc-Roussillon region. And this featured French red wine is produced by Calvet.
Calvet is a renowned wine company that dates back to the late 1800’s. And whose goal under it’s most recent acquirement by Les Grands Chais de France is “to make Calvet the N°1 Bordeaux Brand in the world.”

It takes three grape varieties to produce Minervois. And they are; Grenache, Mourvèdre and Syrah.
The wine is rich and full with a high intensity of dark red fruits. It’s mouth filling. But with soft tannins and a lingering finish.
This choice is 13% abv. and costs around €10 per bottle. Which is great value, as it’s worth every drop.
Enjoy, Sláinte,
Patrick
