Bee Thoughtful Gift Co specialise in thoughtful gift boxes. Gift boxes that are packed carefully from life experience. Each box includes products that are considerately chosen. And most of these are sourced from local Irish producers. An important ingredient for this small Irish company.

Founded by Stephanie Gavin, from her home in Rathdrum, County Wicklow – Bee Thoughtful Gift Co was born from life experience. Her father Ivan’s cancer treatment in 2017. Last November 2019, Stephanie was diagnosed with breast cancer. And although some might consider giving up on their business dream – Stephanie didn’t. Because her love for what she does inspired her to keep going. ‘I kept the business going at a low ebb for a few months while I focused on treatment. I’m almost finished chemotherapy now so have been focusing on my business again. And thankfully have been getting a steady amount of orders in recent weeks.’

Bee Thoughtful Gift Co is a small Irish company that helps deliver comfort and thoughtfulness. From their ‘Relaxing Moment’ Gift Box to their ‘Cancer Care’ Gift Box – there’s a gift box for occasions, circumstances or ‘Just Because’. They only include the most natural products in their gift boxes, using Irish suppliers wherever possible. And when it comes to sustainability – Bee Thoughtful Gift Co only use recyclable packaging, and that includes their oxo biodegradable shipping bags.

1 – Why did you set up Bee Thoughtful Gift Co?

I set up Bee Thoughtful as I found there was a real lack of cancer patient appropriate gifts on the market in Ireland.

My father was going through treatment for oesophageal cancer in late 2017/early 2018, and I received a lot of queries from friends and family on what to send him but could only suggest books and magazines. He had a lot of side effects from the treatment and I thought a gift box with products to help with those would make a lovely gift.

2 – How do you source your gift box products?

I start out by identifying the type of products I want to include, such as hand lotions, chocolate, etc. I usually find my suppliers on social media or through web searches but a few have been word of mouth and some through your blog, The Life of Stuff too!

I’ve found a few through Bite the Biscuit on Facebook and shopsmallireland on Instagram. I try to source from Irish businesses wherever possible as we have an amazing range of quality, natural and hand crafted products in Ireland that I think we should be really proud of.

3 – What’s your most popular gift box?

At the moment the cancer care gift box is the most popular. I think because there’s nothing really like it on the market here.

4 – Where is the furthest place in the world you’ve sent a gift box?

The furthest I’ve sent a gift box so far is Manchester but I hope to be sending them all over the world someday.

5 – What does the future hold for Bee Thoughtful Gift Co.?

My own diagnosis has given me a whole new insight into what cancer care gifts should include. So ideally I would love to expand the range of gift boxes and perhaps even start producing some of my own products. I’ve found some of the products I currently stock, and want to stock in the future, aren’t available from Irish suppliers.
